2013 3/24 Spring Trip to Harmony Home (Wanfang Area, Taipei)

Thanks to Professor Crawford who invited me to give a short presentation on volunteering at the Taipei Medical University, several of the students were interested in getting involved! So I’m heading out to Harmony Home next Sunday to bring the first time students and all others are welcome to come along. Harmony Home is a loving shelter for women and children that provides various services and assistance to those affected or living with HIV/AIDS.

I know sometimes it may seem intimidating to volunteer for a first time at a new place so I encourage those with 2-3 hours to spare to make the journey with us!

Language Proficiency: Level One
Date:
March 24, 2013 (Sunday)Time: 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm (welcome to come or leave anytime).
Location: Meet up at Wanfang Community Hospital MRT Station at 1:30 pm. Those arriving later will need to get to Harmony Home by themselves, which is about 15 minutes walk from the station. Let me know you will be coming as well, contact me!

TASKS: There is always an opportunity for you to go play with the kids, just email or call them beforehand. There are plenty of toys there; you can read to them, play ball, throw stuffed toys, feeding, etc. After you’ve gone a few times I’m sure you can pitch your own ideas, whether it is to teach an art class for the kids or anything else.

MORE INFO:

You can learn more here, here to learn about the organization, and read a variety of touching stories here by volunteers and also more on some of the people they have helped over the years.
