OCT 31st UPDATE: Images from 10/20 here! I really need your support and sponsorship to continue these workshops! Short video from the game here! November 17th event updated and the facebook event is here.
We have an exciting series of workshops upcoming to teach the fundamentals of stop motion animation to the kids in TaoShan and need volunteers as well as sponsors! Children will participate in a 3-workshop course to learn the basics of stop motion animation through crafts and games. Piece by piece through art, photography, and creative story-telling, they will be able to see the working mechanisms of what it takes to create a 60 second stop motion film piece that will premier at the end of the course in December.
Purpose: to set the children on a possible path of animation from the basics and fundamental to end project. Explore creativity and individual components to come together for a full creation.
Lead Teacher: Rippling Tsou
Language Proficiency: Proficiency should be a 2 but we will have a few translators on board as well just in case – when you contact me please include your Mandarin level.
Tasks: Assists with kids on the projects below, pending on the dates. We encourage people to be able to come for all three workshops but volunteering for 1-2 of them is fine. For the courses that overlap on Saturday and Sunday we will give priority to people who can spend the night since we want to be able to bond with the children and the community but it’s fine if you can’t stay the night. However, it will be a fantastic way to spend a weekend in the gorgeous mountains as well, as humble overnight accommodations will be provided, thus space is limited. Bring your own sleeping bag!
There will be a nominal fee of per day that will help pay for this workshop for materials for the kids and a healthy lunch we will cook and share with them. If you can’t make it but would like to sponsor the cost of a camera and development that would help a heap ( disposable approx 399 NT )!
Volunteers will also have their names credited at the end of the finished film!
We always need COOKS for simple vegetarian lunches! And few translators or if anyone is interested in taking video footage of this.

TRANSPORTATION AND RIDESHARE DETAILS:
I will coordinate once we have an idea of where people are coming from and how many. You would take the HSR to Hsinchu (XinZhu) and we will arrange for vehicle to pick up people – space is limited. Otherwise you can either split a cab with others to head up to the community or take a bus. The last bus ride down is at 16:30. I will also be driving up and can take some people in my car.
